Must have scrolling blogs 3.if you guys can figure out how to make a dropdown navigation that would be awesome. and that's all the requirements. please email us your codes at tortuga_news@yahoo.com or put a link to the layout in a comment. good luck!
News 4/26/08 not very credible but interesting. at least it is a real book courtesy of JIMHILLMEDIA.com Jim Hill reviews this entertaining new interactive volume from brecker&mayer! LLC. Which brings the world of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" to life right in your hands
It's okay. You can admit it. As the camera pulled back at the end of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End ," leaving Captain Jack Sparrow just as we'd found him at the start of "The Curse of the Black Pearl " (i.e alone in a small boat in the middle of this empty huge sea), you felt a little blue ... didn't you? Of course, it's easy to understand why. Over the course of Disney's three "Pirates" pictures, you'd come to care for these colorful characters. You'd lived vicariously through their (literally) out-of-this-world adventures. And now that the story's over 'til at least 2012 (When -- it's rumored -- that Walt Disney Pictures plans on releasing "Pirates of the Caribbean 4") ... You found yourself really missing those " ... beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads." But what if the story of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" series wasn't over? What would you do if someone suddenly shoved a weathered old book into your hands? And as you turned this tattered tome over, you discovered this hand-written warning on the back: The classified information herein is intended ONLY for members of the East India Trading Company and the Royal Navy. These Secret Files are, I believe, the most comprehensive and detailed gathering of information on the cursed PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. If you are neither a member of the Company or the Crown, I beg of you, keep this dossier safe from the vicious pirate scoundrels who prowl our seas -- chief amongst them, the nefarious Jack Sparrow. Be alert and be aware. The Age of Pirates is coming to a close, and these documents are MOST essential in our efforts to end this reign of terror.
Intrigued, you open this book. And then an envelope falls out at your feet. One that bears the seal of the East India Trading Company. Copyright 2007 Disney Press. All Rights Reserved
You then open this envelope. And inside is this ancient-looking, water-stained handwritten letter. Which starts off by saying ... Dear Fellow Distinguished Sirs of the East India Trading Company I have recently seen and experienced horrors beyond belief. After having narrowly escaped a Maelstrom, I was forced into hiding. But during this time of self-imposed seclusion, I have not shirked my duty to the Crown and, perhaps more important, to the Company. Enclosed in this dossier is all manner of information I have managed to compile on our sworn enemies -- the heinous, uncivilized Pirates of the Caribbean ...

And with that, you'll find yourself being sucked into the "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Secret Files of the East India Trading Company " (Disney Press, August 2007). Copyright 2007 Disney Press. All Rights Reserved
The conceit of this "dossier" (Which was designed by Scott Westgard & edited by Betsy Pringle) was that it was "written" by an East India Trading Company representative who actually witnessed that fateful final battle between the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman. More importantly, this gentleman then made an effort to keep tabs on the "Pirates" characters after the events we saw toward the end of "At World's End." Mind you, the alleged author of this book -- one Sir Thomas Faye -- is evidently a brown-nosing Company man. Otherwise why would he have felt it necessary to include a portrait of his late boss, Lord Cutler Beckett ... Lord Cutler Beckett painting by James Ward Byrkit. Copyright 2007 Disney. ... as well as a heartfelt prayer that "... may (the late Lord Beckett) be blessed with a well-earned eternal slumber" ? Faye also put another painting in this dossier that shows Cutler's arrival in Port Royal. Which (you may recall) involved this East India Trading Company representative riding on horseback while his steed stood up in a longboat! Anyway ... Faye attempts to bring his bosses up-to-speed about what's become of the Black Pearl and its crew. To whit: Since the Maelstrom, the ship has slipped through our fingers once again and is rumored to be under the control of Barbossa. It is my firm belief that Sparrow will not cease in his attempts to regain control of her.

And though Sir Thomas tries to distract EITC officials by showing them a replica of one of those cursed coins from that infamous Aztec treasure ... Copyright 2007 Disney. All Rights Reserved
... eventually Faye has to break the bad news: As I write this, Captain Jack Sparrow has vanished again. After losing the Pearl (again) and evading the Company and the Crown (again), he is said to have returned to the Pirate town of Tortuga on a new quest to find something of immeasurable worth ... The fabled Fountain of Youth. Be on the alert. Sparrow is free and no matter what massive headway we make in securing the arrest of other pirates, the seas will not be safe for the civilized world until this man is captured.
And as soon as you read that ... 2012 just can't get here fast enough. You're ready now to sail off on another cinematic adventure with the crusty crew of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean." Copyright 2007 Disney. All Rights Reserved
That's the real beauty of "The Secret Files of the East India Trading Company." Becker&mayer! LLC (i.e. The talented team behind such interactive volumes as "How Does the Show Go On? An Introduction to the Theater " and "The Mickey Mouse Treasures ") have crafted this authentic-looking dossier that drops you right back into that world where there really is a Shipwreck Cove. Where Calypso is a force to be reckoned with. And the only way to find a place that can't be found is to get good and lost. Trust me, folks. If you've got a "Pirates of the Caribbean" fan on your holiday shopping list, "The Secret Files of the East India Trading Company" is the book that you really want to pick up for them.

This is the biggest Friday our company has ever had and we're definitely on track to having our best box office weekend ever. Reports continue to pour in from all over the world as to how well this film is playing, and we're delighted that word-of-mouth is clearly translating into record results at the box office."
"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" picks up where the record-breaking 2006 smash hit left off, with our heroes Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) allied with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones' locker. With the terrifying ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman, and its commander Davy Jones under the control of the East India Trading Company, there is havoc on the Seven Seas. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, the heroic trio must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat). Now headed beyond the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final titanic battle -- as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of the freedom-loving Pirate way hangs in the balance. Our source tells us that some actors are being offered contracts for the next three films, which have not yet been announced through official channels.
| Orlando Bloom To Be Axed From Pirates!! Will Turner to walk the plank... | By: Lowri Williams on 10/9/2006
Courtesy of: entertainmentwise.com | | | Producers of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ are reportedly planning to kill off Orlando Bloom’s character Will Turner.
According to FemaleFirst, Turner will be killed off in the fourth instalment of the Disney film series in a bid to cut costs as Turner is now considered "not necessary" to the money making film franchise.
An insider told the Daily Star: "Pirates of The Caribbean has proved a huge hit and made a fortune for everyone involved.
"A huge chunk of that success is on the shoulders of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Love interest Keira Knightley, who plays Elizabeth Swann is a huge hit.
"But producers and directors are now trying to cut costs. Orlando Bloom has suffered as a result.
"The script for the fourth Pirates movie is being worked on and all the finances are in place but it was decided Bloom's character and a number of minor roles were not necessary to ensure it would be yet another box office smash for Disney." |

Studio estimates for Pirates of the Caribbean 's weekend came in pretty close to the actual figures, with the official gross put at $62.3 million. After two weeks, the film has already become the highest-grossing movie of the year, with its total gross put at $258.4 million. Sony's Little Man and Universal's You, Me and Dupree fought it out for second place, with Little turning out bigger than expected with a take of $21.6 million. Dupree was less than $88,000 behind, with $21.5 million. Warner Bros.' Superman Returns, which finished in fourth place, continued to look as if it were still struggling against Kryptonite as it earned $12.3 million to bring its total to $164.3 million. Some analysts expressed doubt that the film, which cost about $210 million to produce, plus another $40 million to develop, would even hit $200 million during
its domestic run. Plot Summary for Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (2007)Courtesy of imdb.com

of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest opening this Friday (did we mention you should stay until the end of the credits?), not much is known Memorial Day 2007.
BANG Showbiz senior editor Simon Thompson tells ComingSoon.net that he caught up with Kevin McNally, who plays Joshamee Gibbs (Captain Jack Sparrow's number two), at the premiere in London last night and asked him about the third installment.
"The only thing I can say is that we go to a completely other part of the world and we face a completely new range of baddies which are even worse than the ones we've faced before - they're really, really evil and nasty - even more so than Davy Jones, although he'll be back of course," the actor revealed.
McNally continued: "The supernatural stories stay there and there is a big new supernatural element that's much bigger than the ones we've had before."
When asked about the location for the new movie he said that they are "heading to Singapore. If I told you any more I'd have to kill you."

what next May's trilogy capper will be called. Not so fast, says the FilmForce gang...
From IGNFF: "A Disney rep told IGN FilmForce that "At World's End" is NOT THE TITLE of the third film and that these early reports are false. Disney says that a title to the third film will surface in the next few months.
Additionally, the supposed poster that has surfaced online recently is not the film's official key art. It is simply a place-holder cobbled together for a trade show to help with merchandizing for the third movie. However, it is worth nothing that the mockups Asian theme is a hint about the third film's storyline. Actor Chow Yun-Fat is set to play pirate Sao Feng in the soon-to-be-titled Pirates 3."
In related news, Johnny Depp says he'd be fine with making more "Pirates" sequels. |
